Fox back up; Waddell to DL
The right-handed hitter owns a .409 batting average (67-for-164) with 44 runs, 14 doubles, three triples, 17 homers and 53 RBI in 45 games for Iowa this season. He leads minor league baseball in batting average, on-base percentage (.495) and slugging percentage (.841).
Since he was optioned to Iowa June 9, Fox has reached base safely in three of four games, going 3-for-13 (.231) with three runs, a triple, two RBI and four walks.
Waddell, 28, has a 5.40 ERA (1 ER/1.2 IP) with no record and one hold in three relief appearances for the Cubs, his first major league action after nine seasons in the minors. This year with Iowa , he was 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA (10 ER/16.2 IP) in 18 relief outings prior to his selection May 27. He signed with the Cubs as a minor league free agent in November of 2008.
