Cubs July 7 Minor League Recap

Albert Almora hit homers in both ends of a doubleheader to lead Daytona to the sweep in Lakeland as the D-Cubs moved into first place. Jorge Soler had three hits, including his second homer in as many days, in Tennessee’s defeat while Javier Baez smacked a three-run bomb in Iowa’s loss in Omaha. Billy McKinney made his Cubs debut for Daytona and Dan Straily debuted at Iowa.

AAA—Omaha 7, Iowa 3 Omaha took advantage of an error in the second to score four unearned runs to beat Iowa. At the Dish: Javier Baez provided all the offense, smacking a three-run bomb in the third for Iowa’s only runs of the game. Iowa only had five, four singles and the Baez homer.
