Solarte went deep on Thursday

Cardenales de Lara third baseman Yangervis Solarte hit a solo home run, his first of the Venezuelan Winter League postseason, on Thursday. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's winterball action in the Texas Rangers' system.

Dominican Winter League


No Rangers appeared in the Dominican Republic on Thursday.



Venezuelan Winter League


Cardenales de Lara third baseman Yangervis Solarte helped carry his club to a 6-1 victory by going 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk.

The 25-year-old Solarte joined Lara for the playoffs after playing with Aragua during the regular season. With the Tigres, Solarte appeared in 47 games and posted a solid .301/.365/.409 slash line. The Rangers re-signed him to a minor league deal earlier this offseason, also giving him an invitation to big league camp.

Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus had a single and a walk in four trips, as Magallanes fell, 3-1. Andrus also committed his third error in two postseason games.



Mexican Pacific League


Guasave fell behind 2-0 in their best-of-seven playoff series after falling to Obregon, 5-2, on Thursday. The Rangers' Jose Felix appeared as a pinch-hitter in the 11th inning and grounded out.



Puerto Rican Winter League


No Rangers appeared in Puerto Rico on Thursday.



Australian Baseball League


On Thursday, Brisbane Bandits centerfielder Hirotoshi Onaka raised his batting average to .312 with a pair of singles in four at-bats. He also drove home his club's only run and stole his seventh base.

The following day (Friday, and Thursday in the states), Onaka was hitless in four at-bats. The Japan native is now hitting .299/.409/.361 with seven steals in 10 attempts over 27 contests.

Friday's hitless performance also snapped Onaka's eight-game hitting streak.
