Biography:
Signed by Cubs (scout: Hector Ortega) as non-drafted free agent from Venezuela in 2005 ... appeared in 17 games for the Mesa Cubs of the Arizona League in 2007, batting .288 with three doubles, three triples and one home run. Began 2008 at Class A Peoria and batted .224 in 33 games before being sent to Extended Spring Training.
