| Sam Fuld got a second chance to sign with the Cubs in 2004 after batting .273 in 60 games in his senior season at Stanford. He was originally drafted in the 24th round of the 2003 draft and was a 10th round pick in '04. Fuld was a two-time All-American with the Cardinal and a Baseball America Preseason All-American entering his senior season. A shoulder injury kept Fuld from making his minor league debut with the Cubs in 2004 ... In 2005 and 2006, Fuld batted an even .300 with Class A Peoria and Class High A Daytona, respectively ... Hit .291 in 77 games with Double-A Tennessee in 2007 before earning a promotion to Triple-A Iowa on Aug. 7... batted .290 in 90 games with Tennessee overall in 2007, hitting 23 doubles and 27 RBIs. ... First called up by Cubs on Sept. 4, 2007. ... 2008: played in 105 games, primarily at Class AA Tennessee, where he batted .271 with 16 doubles. |
