| Soto had a banner year for the Cubs in 2008 en route to being named unanimous National League Rookie of the Year. He batted .285 with 23 home runs, 35 doubles and 86 RBI in 141 games and became the first National League rookie catcher to start in an All-Star Game. His 23 home runs for a rookie were the most by a Cubs player since Billy Williams' 25 in 1961. He was the first Cubs catcher to start an All-Star Game since Gabby Hartnett in 1937. |
