| Felipe Lopez agreed to a one-year, $3.5 million contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks, more than the club reportedly offered Hall of Famer-to-be Randy Johnson this offseason. Lopez is a defensive liability whose best days with the stick appear to be behind him.

Lopez proved to be one of the better deals made in 2008, getting playing time at short, second, third and in left and right field in his first season with the Cardinals. He hit .283 with six home runs and 46 RBIs for the Redbirds, posting a line of .283/.343/.387 (BA, AVG, OBP) a significant upgrade for the line posted at Washington, .234/.305/.314.
