Selected by Cubs in ninth round of 2006 draft from Cottonwood (Utah) High School ... considered one of the top prep players in Utah his senior season of high school ... Batted .248 with eight extra base hits and 11 RBIs in 46 games in the Arizona League with Mesa in 2006 ... appeared in 45 games with Mesa in 2007, batting .298 with 11 doubles, seven triples and one home run.
