| The Cubs' first-round draft pick in 2005 posted a 2.72 ERA and .170 average against in 14 starts with the Mesa Cubs before being promoted to Class-A Boise following Arizona League play. He struck out 56 and walked 21 in 43 innings, all the while allowing 25 hits. He threw 13 wild pitches and allowed zero home runs ... In 2006, left-hander began the year in Extended Spring Training and then made 12 starts at Class Low A Boise ... was 3-5 with 2.51 ERA in 61 innings in 2006 ... made two appearances with Class A Peoria in 2007 before being sent to Extended Spring Training in Arizona ... returned to Boise in mid-June and was 1-2 with a 9.24 ERA in eight appearances spanning 12 2/3 innings ... struck out 10 and walked 10. |
