| Signed by the Cubs as a non-drafted free agent in 2002 (scout: Billy Swoope) ... Attended Deep Creek High School (Chesapeake, Va.) and Virginia State University ... Sidearm left-hander spent 2005 at Class A Daytona, appearing in 27 games with a 1-3 record and 3.83 ERA ... Missed parts of 2005 with a strained rotator cuff and an emergency appendectomy ... Promoted to Triple-A Iowa in late June, 2006, after appearing in 33 games for Double-A West Tenn ... Recorded 21 saves and posted a 0.82 ERA in 43 2/3 innings, striking out 45 and walking 10 ... Appeared in 28 games in relief for Iowa and was 3-2 with a 3.04 ERA in 23 2/3 innings ... One of seven Cubs prospects on hand in the annual Arizona Fall League in 2006 ... Pitched in 16 games for the Mesa Solar Sox of the Fall League and had a 3.07 ERA while striking out 17 and walking three ... Added to Cubs' 40-man roster on Nov. 20, 2006 ...
