| Regarded as one of the top pitchers in the state of Florida during his senior season at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, Gallagher went 1-2 with a 3.12 ERA in 10 appearances during his professional debut season with the Arizona League's Mesa Cubs in 2004.
He tossed a combined no-hitter for Class-A Peoria on April 20, 2005 at Cedar Rapids in just his third start of the season. The right-hander's 14 wins led the Midwest League at the time he was promoted to Daytona in late August. He was also the league's ERA leader for most all of the season.
He made one start at Daytona, allowing one run in five innings on Sept. 3 against Brevard County, striking out seven without allowing a walk. His 14 wins tied Ricky Nolasco for the most in the Cubs' farm system in 2005.
Gallagher was named the 2005 Minor League Pitcher of the Year by the Cubs after going 14-5 with a 2.71 ERA, 139 strikeouts and 55 walks ...
