Biography:
Selected as a shortstop in the first round (3rd overall pick) by the Cubs in the 2000 draft from Coral Park High School in Miami ... Earned Arizona League MVP honors in his first professional season (2000) ... Struggled in first several seasons with the Cubs, batting .255 (2001), .265 (2002) and .253 (2003) before switching to the outfield mid-2004 while in Extended Spring Training ... Batted .297 in 72 games at Class Low-A Boise in '04 ... Hit .302 in 82 games with Class A Peoria in '05 and was named to the Midwest League All-Star team ... Promoted to Double-A mid-season in '05.
