| Drafted in the 13th round of the 2004 draft by Atlanta ... traded to Cubs with P Angelo Burrows for OF Todd Hollandsworth. Blackford began his professional career in the Gulf Coast League, where in 15 games (two starts) he was 1-2 with a 7.86 ERA in 26.1 innings.
Blackford joined Class-A Danville of the Appalachian League in 2005 and was 5-3 with a 3.17 ERA as a starter in 12 appearances. He struck out 30 and walked 22 ... Assigned to Class-A Peoria after being traded to Cubs. |
