Underwent minor surgery on his right knee Tues., March 7, 2006. Wood was injured again in 2005 and spent a good part of the season on the DL. He underwent season-ending, arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder in late August. Before then, Wood appeared exclusively from the bullpen for the first time in his career beginning early on in August up until he was shut down for the year. Wood's long history of injuries started in his rookie year (1998). He missed the entire 1999 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery and was plagued in 2004 by triceps injuries. In 2006, he made only four starts for Chicago. He was signed to a one-year contract through 2007 in November, 2006. |
