Cashner Talks about Promotion

Chicago Cubs pitching prospect Andrew Cashner is ready to take on Double-A. The right-hander and first-round pick in the 2008 draft was promoted to Tennessee after making 12 starts at Class-A Daytona, where he had a 1.50 ERA in 42 innings.

Cashner began the season on the disabled list after coming down with an oblique injury in spring training. He made his 2009 debut on April 26 and had been slowly building up arm strength and raising his pitch limit when he was promoted this week. In his last start, June 28 at Fort Myers, Cashner had a 75-pitch limit in a four-inning start. He allowed two hits and three walks to 17 batters, but... Recommended Stories
