Cubs Conclude Final Day of Draft

CHICAGO – The Chicago Cubs today completed the 2009 Major League Baseball Draft. The club made 50 selections during the three-day event.

The Cubs selected a local high school pitcher today – righthander John Nasshan from Niles West High School in Skokie in the 48th round (1460th).

Overall, the Cubs selected 23 pitchers (17 righthanders and six lefthanders), 15 infielders, seven outfielders and five catchers. Additionally, the Cubs selected 36 college players and 14 high school players.
