One Chicago Cubs prospect slated to pitch in the Arizona Fall League will pitch in another post…
Colvin Goes to the Docs
The visit with team doctors was to determine the severity of the elbow, which was said to have been hampering Colvin throughout much of the 2008 season.
Colvin was 3-for-17 in five Fall League games. He played in 137 games for Class AA Tennessee this season, batting .256 with 14 home runs, 27 doubles, 11 triples and 80 RBIs. He spent most of his time in the outfield between left and center field.
The official said that Colvin was scheduled to visit with a specialist outside of Chicago, and that he might require surgery.
The Cubs selected Colvin with their first-round pick (13th overall) in 2006. The Clemson alum was ranked the third best prospect in the Cubs' minor league system by Baseball America entering 2008, and the Cubs' No. 1 overall prospect by Scout.com.
The Cubs will not be sending a replacement player to Arizona in Colvin's absence.
