Sevierville, Tennessee -- The Tennessee Smokies Professional Baseball Club, the Class AA Southern League Affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, have added LHP Ed Campusano, LHP Casey Lambert, and INF Josh Lansford to the active roster. In a related roster move, RHP Michael Cooper was sent to Class A Daytona.

Campusano rejoins the Smokies after beginning the season at the Double-A level, then was sent to Single-A Daytona from the disabled list. The 25-year old native of San Pedro de Macoris, Domincan Republic posted a 2-0 record at Daytona, with a 0.59 ERA in nine appearances. The Cubs signed Campusano as a free agent in July 2001.

Lambert joins the Smokies for his first stint at the Double-A level. The Cubs acquired Lambert in the sixth round of the 2007 from the University of Virginia, where he held the ACC record for career saves with 43. A 22-year old native of Harrisonburg, VA, Lambert spent the 2007 campaign between the Mesa Cubs (A) and Peoria Chiefs (A).

Lansford also joins the Smokies for his first experience in Double-A. He was drafted by the Cubs in the sixth round of the 2006 draft out of Cal Poly State University. Lansford played the entire 2007 campaign with Peoria, posting a .273 batting average, with 3 home runs and 42 RBI on the season. A 23-year old native of Santa Clara, CA, Lansford is the son of former major leaguer Carney Lansford, who boasted a 15-year career between California, Boston and Oakland.

Peoria Left-hander Promoted to Daytona

The Peoria Chiefs in conjunction with the Chicago Cubs have announced that left-handed pitcher Dustin Sasser has been promoted to High-A Daytona. The organization has yet to determine who will join the team to fill out the roster, which currently stands at 24 players.

Sasser made 20 appearances with the Chiefs this season, posting a 1.53 ERA with a 1-4 record. He is second on the team in saves with four, and in his 35 1/3 innings pitched he struck out 24 batters. His win came on May 21 against Quad Cities when he pitched two innings, allowing two hits and no runs while striking out a season-high three.
