Posted May 15, 2008

Outfielder Ryan Harvey was sent to Class-A Daytona on Thursday after playing in 36 games with Double-A Tennessee. Harvey, 23, batted .216 with the Smokies.

Harvey’s latest stint in Daytona comes after he struck out 39 times in 111 at-bats with Tennessee in his first career stint above Single-A ball. The Cubs drafted Harvey sixth overall in the first round of the 2003 draft from Dunedin (Fla.) High School.

Harvey got off to a hot start at Tennessee by batting .345 in his first 10 games, but was 2-for-23 in his last eight games prior to the demotion.

No other roster moves are known at this time.
