Iowa Sends Two to Triple-A All-Star Game

Iowa INF/OF Micah Hoffpauir and second baseman Eric Patterson have been named to the 2007 Triple-A All-Star Game, the Pacific Coast League announced Thursday.

Through 76 games, the 27-year-old Hoffpauir is batting .321 with a team-best 14 home runs and 23 doubles, and a league-leading 69 RBIs. He began the year by batting over .400 in his first 16 games.

Through 25 games this month, Hoffpauir is batting .349 (37-for-106) with five home runs, 10 doubles and 24 RBIs. Hoffpauir was the Cubs' 13th-round selection in the 2002 draft from Lamar University.

For his part, Patterson is batting .292 with 10 home runs, 13 doubles, four triples and 41 RBIs through 74 games.

The 24-year old batted .355 (39-for-110) in 28 games in May and is currently third in the Pacific Coast League with 58 runs scored. Patterson was the Cubs' eighth-round pick in the 2004 draft from Georgia Tech.

The 2007 Triple-A All-Star Game, which pairs players from the Pacific Coast League versus those from the International League, is scheduled for Wednesday, July 11, at Albuquerque's Isotopes Park beginning at 6:35 p.m. (CDT). The game can be seen on ESPN2.
