Ed Campusano

LHP Ed Campusano was named to the 2006 Class A Midwest League Post-Season All-Star roster Thursday. Campusano was the lone representative from the Peoria Chiefs.

The 24-year-old posted a 1.21 ERA and saved 21 games for Peoria in 26 appearances in the first half of the season. He was promoted to Double-A West Tenn in mid-June after allowing four earned runs in 29 2/3 innings, and holding opposing hitters to a .152 average against. He struck out 47 and walked nine with the Chiefs.

Overall this season, Campusano has 25 saves – the most in the Cubs' farm system. Since being promoted to West Tenn, he is 2-1 with four saves and a 1.75 ERA in 18 appearances totaling 25 2/3 innings. The southpaw is currently on the disabled list with an elbow strain.

Signed as a non-drafted free agent from the Dominican Republic in 2001, Campusano entered 2006 with a 3.77 ERA in 65 career appearances.

The all-star roster was selected by the 14 Midwest League managers. Kane County's Jeff Baisley was named league MVP. Recommended Stories
