RHP Thomas Atlee was promoted from Double-A West Tennessee to Triple-A Iowa.                                    

The 26-year-old Atlee appeared in 25 games in relief for West Tenn this season, going 2-3 with two saves and a 1.67 ERA in 43 innings. He struck out 33, walked 11 and held opposing hitters to a .201 average against.

Atlee, picked up by the Cubs in the 19th round of the 2002 draft from Lamar University in Texas, entered 2006 with 31 saves in three professional seasons. He had a career 8-9 record and 3.10 ERA in 136 2/3 innings.

The right-hander missed all of 2003 with injuries after undergoing Tommy John Surgery in October of ’02.

Catcher Jon-Mark Sprowl was also promoted from West Tenn to Iowa. The 26-year-old was 7-for-30 with five RBIs in 19 games for the Diamond Jaxx.

Iowa placed pitcher Mark Watson and infielder Jeff Deardorff on the disabled.
