Kerry Wood is a question mark for Tuesday's game at Florida.

Wood, who made his first major league appearance of the season Thursday after recovering from shoulder surgery, has not made a bullpen session since then. He may do some light throwing Monday night, and the Cubs will decide if he's ready to go.

"If everything is fine and he's loose, we'll let him (start)," Cubs pitching coach Larry Rothschild said. "But if there's anything where we need to back him off and watch him, we'll do that, too.

"There's a good possibility he is going to start. But if it doesn't happen that way, we'll be prepared for it."

Left-handed pitcher Glendon Rusch, who opened the season in the starting rotation but is now in the bullpen, could get the start if Wood gets scratched.

REPLAY: Cubs catcher Michael Barrett punched White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski in the face during Saturday's 7-0 loss, but on Sunday, he hit a key triple during a four-run eighth-inning rally to help the Cubs to a 7-4 victory over the defending World Series champs.

Aramis Ramirez and Jacque Jones -- two players who have had early-season hitting woes, came up big. Ramirez hit two solo home runs and Jones' two-run homer in the eighth gave the Cubs a 6-4 lead.

--RHP Carlos Zambrano gave up three home runs but also struck out nine in an up-and-down performance against the White Sox on Sunday. But he won his third straight game with the 7-4 victory over the Sox.

--3B Aramis Ramirez hit his first homer since May 7 in the second inning on Sunday against the White Sox and added another in the fourth. Ramirez, whom the Cubs had hoped would get hot in the wake of Derrek Lee's wrist injury, took over the team lead with eight homers and is tied with Michael Barrett with 20 RBIs.

--RHP Kerry Wood said he will make his start Tuesday against Florida, but he has not made a bullpen session since making his first appearance of the season on Thursday. Wood is coming off shoulder surgery, and the Cubs will wait to see how he feels on Monday before deciding if he should be scratched on Tuesday.

--LHP Rich Hill was demoted to Triple-A Iowa on Sunday after going 0-4 with a 9.31 ERA. Hill said that he was prepared to pitch at the major league level mentally, but mechanically he was having trouble locating his pitches.

--RHP Michael Wuertz was brought up from Triple-A Iowa on Sunday. He figures to get some long- and middle-relief work. Wuertz was with the club at the start of the season and had a 6.75 ERA in three appearances before he was demoted. He was 1-0 with a 1.20 ERA and two saves in 10 relief appearances for Iowa.

BY THE NUMBERS: 19 -- Victories over American League teams for pitcher Greg Maddux in the first nine years of interleague play. It's the most interleague wins by any pitcher.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "I'm hearing that if they sweep us I'm fired and it's all bull(deleted) I don't have time for bull(deleted). I'm too old for bull(deleted)." -- Cubs manager Dusty Baker on speculation of his job status if the Cubs were swept by the White Sox.
