Murton: six doubles in three games

Recapping the first week of the Arizona Fall League.

Of the Cubs' contingent on the Arizona Fall League's Mesa Solar Sox roster this year, OF Matt Murton and 1B/OF Brandon Sing have stood out the most through the first week. Murton has seven hits in his first 11 at-bats with six runs scored and a league-best six doubles in three games alone. Also in three games, Sing is 5-for-10 with three doubles.

Also representing the Cubs are SS Buck Coats and 2B Eric Patterson. Coats, a member of the "taxi squad" and limited to Wednesday and Saturday games only, was 2-for-5 with an RBI double in his only appearance. Patterson has three hits in 15 at-bats with four runs scored.

Pitchers David Aardsma and John Koronka have each appeared from the Solar Sox bullpen. In three games, Aardsma has allowed six runs (all earned) in 4 2/3 innings, striking out five and walking four. Koronka has appeared in two games without allowing a run. He has struck out five and walked one in three innings.

Forever-touted right-hander Angel Guzman made one start, allowing two runs and six hits in four innings. Guzman struck out five without allowing a walk.
