Boise Hawks third-baseman Brandon Taylor was named today the Northwest League Player of the Week.

The award, selected by Major League Baseball Advanced Media, in conjunction with www.minorleaguebaseball.com, is a weekly honor for a position play in each of the 16 leagues comprising minor league baseball.

Taylor, out of Brigham Young, who will celebrate his 23rd birthday on Sunday, hit .400 last week (10-for-25), with three doubles, three home runs, and six RBI. He became the first Boise player to hit home runs on back-to-back nights (Friday and Saturday) this season.

He joins pitchers Darin Downs and Michael Hyle, who were named NWL Pitchers of the Week earlier in the season.

This week's NWL Pitcher of the Week was Trey Shields of Vancouver, who went 2-0 and allowed only one earned run in 12 innings of work.
