Martinez Discusses DL Stint

Martinez talks about DL stint

Reserve infielder Ramon Martinez was placed on the disabled list for a groin injury that he suffered in a game on Sept. 15.

Why put him on the disabled list when the rosters have expanded to 40?

The Cubs are figuring that he won't be ready for the playoffs and would likely place Neifi Perez on the playoff roster if the Cubs win the wild card.

"It's disappointing that I'm not 100 percent," Martinez said. "I'm probably 80 percent running, so what can you do? I haven't played in two weeks, and my rhythm isn't there."
