Iowa's Zac Rosscup—two scoreless innings, two RBI

The Cubs affiliates capped off a big weekend winning three more games as Iowa, Tennessee and Kane County all posted wins. Javier Baez was placed in DL with an ankle injury.

The big news of the day is Javier Baez was placed on the disabled list after hurting his ankle fielding ground balls during batting practice before Friday's game in Memphis. IF Edgar Gonzalez, who started year on DL, was added to the roster to replace Baez.

Plenty of other movement in the Cubs minors on Sunday. RHP Duane Underwood joined Kane County and Scott Frazier was sent to extended spring training. Ben Wells was added to the Daytona roster and Austin Kirk was promoted to AA. IF Giuseppe Papaccio and RHP Frank Batista were sent from Tennessee to extended spring training to make room for Kirk and OF Jae-Hoon Ha, who was sent from Iowa to AA. RHP Eduardo Figueroa was assigned to Iowa from extended spring training and made the start for the I-Cubs on Sunday.

AAA—Iowa 6, Memphis 3

Zac Rosscup pitched two scoreless innings of relief and made his first pro hit count as he delivered a two-run single helping Iowa beat Memphis for the second straight game.

At the Dish: The I-Cubs were held scoreless until the sixth when 2B Arismendy Alcantara ripped a run-scoring double and 1B Lars Anderson added a sacrifice fly for a 2-1 Iowa lead. They put the game away in the 7th on Rosscup's two-run single and then Matt Szczur followed with his first homer of the season.....C Luis Flores (.400) was 2-3 with two runs scored.....Iowa hitters fanned 12 times.

On the Hill: It was all hands on deck as Eduardo Figueroa was brought in to make the start, allowing one run on four hits in two innings... Alberto Cabrera earned the win with three scoreless frames, yielding three hits with a strikeout.....Rosscup recoded his second hold with two scoreless frames....Neil Ramirez worked a quick 1-2-3 eighth but ran into troubles in the ninth as two runs scored and the Redbirds had the tying run on at the plate....Marcos Mateo came in and got the final hitter to groundout for his first save.

I-Cubs Notes: Iowa concludes its trip to Memphis on Monday night with Carlos Pimentel (1-1 4.09 ERA) taking the mound.



AA—Tennessee 8, Chattanooga 2

Matt Loosen tossed five innings and the Smokies scored six runs in the second as Tennessee won its third straight over Chattanooga.

At the Dish: Back-to-back homers by Zeke DeVoss and Stephen Bruno highlighted a six-run second as the Smokies exploded early. Wes Darvill got the inning started with a two-run double and scored on Matt Loosen's single. DeVoss then launched a two-run shot and Bruno followed with a long ball of his own. Darvill (3-3) added a RBI single in the seventh after the Lookouts walked John Andreoli with the bases loaded.....Kris Bryant went 1-3 with two runs on a pair of walks. It was the ninth game Bryant has reached base and his OBP is at .432.

On the Hill: Matt Loosen didn't have his best stuff but the right-hander battled for five innings to record his first win. The Lookout scored two runs on four hits and four walks off Loosen, who fanned five in his 95 pitch effort.....Lendy Castillo worked around three free passes and a hit in 1.2 innings....After Castillo loaded the bases in the seventh, Hunter Cervenka came in and fanned the only batter he faced.....Armando Rivero looked good in his first outing since allowing a game-tying two-run homer in the ninth. The Cuban fanned three in two perfect innings.

Smokies Notes: Tennessee host Jackson, the Mariners affiliate, in the first of a four-game series tomorrow with C. J. Edwards slated to start.



High A—Tampa 7, Daytona 3

Tampa won the deciding game of the series scoring four runs in fifth as the Yankees collected 11 hits and drew six walks off Daytona pitching.

At the Dish: Bijan Rademacher remained hot as the left-handed hitting outfielder was 2-4 with a pair of RBI. The 2012 draft pick is 8-15 in his last four games and is hitting .435 on the season. Tim Saunders went 2-5 with a double and a RBI......Chadd Krist collected his first hit of the season.....Albert Almora (.300) was 0-3.......Daytona is struggling with the bases loaded as they are 0-12 on the season.

On the Hill: Ben Wells made his first start of the season after joining the team from extended spring training. Wells went four innings as the Yankees greeted the 21-year-old with a single and run-scoring double. The right-hander settled down and finished the day allowing two runs and on five hits with a three walks and two strikeouts.....Michael Jensen struggled with his command as three walks and two singles led to four Tampa runs in the fifth as the right-hander only recorded two outs before giving way to Andrew McKirahan. The left-hander allowed a RBI single to the first hitter he faced but then got the final out and tossed two more shutout innings finishing with a line of 2.1 IP, 2H, 3K.....Arodys Vizcaino yielded a pair of doubles in the eighth as Tampa pushed across the first run against the power pitching reliever.

D-Cubs Notes: The D-Cubs slow start has left them six games behind first-place Dunedin, as they open a three-game series with the Blue Jays on Monday.



Low A—Kane County 6, Lake County 1

Kane County (7-3) scored three runs in the first and hung on for the 6-1 win over Lake County (4-6) in a game shortened to seven innings by rain. It was the Cougars fourth straight victory and moves them into a first place tie with Cedar Rapids in the eight-team Western Division.

At the Dish: Cougars made the most of their six hits and three walks.......Yasiel Balaguert (2-3, 2R, 2B) extended his hitting streak to eight games as the 21-year-old continues to square up MWL pitching. He's hitting .381/.395/.524, leads the league in hits, and is among leaders in RBI and total bases.....C Benjamin Carhart (.269) was 1-2 and scored twice while Daniel Canela (.208), Daniel Lockhart (.158) and Trey Martin (.172) all knocked in runs........Jacob Hannemann (.233) was back in the lineup but went 0-4 with a strikeout......Kane County scored three runs in the first on two passed balls and a wild pitch.

On the Hill: Duane Underwood made his first start of the season after joining the team from extended spring training. The second-round pick of 2012 went three innings, allowing one run on three hits and a walk with five strikeouts. The 19-year-old didn't return after the rain delay. With the addition of Kane County will now use a six-man rotation........RH Justin Amlung earned his second win with four scoreless innings of relief. The Louisville product fanned five and allowed two hits, hasn't surrendered a run in 9.1 innings.

Cougars Notes: There was a 50-minute rain delay in the bottom of the third.......The Cougars embark on their first long road trip of the season as they headed to Bowling Green after Sunday's game. They have three games with the Hot Rods and then travel to Dayton for three more.
