Toledo tallied four home runs in Friday's game against Pawtucket led by Nick Castellanos' eleventh homer of the year. Erie also had four home runs in its win over Richmond. Lakeland nearly overcame a late deficit against Dunedin but fell short in the loss, as did West Michigan against Dayton. The GCL Tigers fell while the VSL Tigers topped the Phillies.

AAA Toledo Mud Hens
33-50, 4th in West Division

Toledo homered four times in Friday’s game against Pawtucket and dodged a late charge from the Red Sox as the Mud Hens prevailed 10-6. Starting pitcher Pat Misch improved his record to 3-5 with the win, allowing four earned runs on 9 hits over 6 ? inning and striking out two. Nick Castellanos led the way at the plate for the Mud Hens, going 2-for-4 and hitting his eleventh home run of the season while driving in three runs on the night. Alex Avila also homered and drove in three runs out of the designated hitter spot in his rehab start while Jordan Lennerton and Ben Guez each hit their thirteenth home run of the season.

Erie overcame a 9-8 deficit by scoring two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning in Friday’s game against Richmond as the SeaWolves took a come-from-behind win over the Flying Squirrels 10-9. Matt Crouse earned a no decision in the start, allowing four earned runs on seven hits over five innings. Will Startup improved his record to 4-1 after earning the win in relief. James McCann was one of four Erie hitters to homer in the win, notching his third home run of the season and driving in three runs for the SeaWolves.

High-A Lakeland Flying Tigers
32-44, 5th in North Division

Lakeland nearly overcame a two-run deficit in Friday’s game against Dunedin but fell one run short as the Flying Tigers fell to the Blue Jays 3-2. Starting pitcher Wilsen Palacios fell to 3-6 on the season with the loss, allowing three earned runs on seven hits over seven innings of work. Chad Wright gave the Flying Tigers a boost offensively in the loss, going 2-for-3 with a triple and an RBI. Jason Krizan also drove in a run for Lakeland.

Low-A West Michigan Whitecaps
38-41, 2nd in Eastern Division

West Michigan kept Friday’s game against Dayton close but could not establish a lead as the Whitecaps fell to the Dragons 5-3. Starting pitcher Endrys Briceno fell to 4-5 with the loss despite a pretty strong outing, allowing one earned run on five hits over five innings. Jeff Holm hit his eighth home run of the season and Jared Reaves hit his fourth in the loss.

The GCL Tigers put up six unanswered runs in Friday’s game against the Phillies, prevailing in a 7-2 final. Starting pitcher David Paulino earned his first win of the season after allowing one earned run on five hits over five innings. Samuel Crafort hit his first home run in the win while driving in two runs for the Tigers. Jesus Usteriz drove in three runs for the Tigers in the win.

The VSL Tigers scored a run in the ninth inning but could do nothing else offensively, falling in Friday’s game against the Phillies 4-1. Starting pitcher Jose Fuentes fell to 0-5 with the loss, allowing two earned runs on four hits over five innings. Ariel Serrano drove in the only run for the Tigers on a double.
