The Single-A Hickory Crawdads earned another victory on Wednesday, getting a double and three RBI from left fielder Nick Williams. Lone Star Dugout takes a look at all of the day's minor league action in the Texas Rangers system.

The Express had Wednesday off. They’ll return home to face New Orleans on Thursday.

Playing their first game after the Texas League All-Star break, the RoughRiders were shut out on Wednesday.

Despite getting stuck with the loss, right-hander Tyler Tufts turned in a strong outing, as he allowed one run in five innings. Tufts scattered four hits, struck out three, and didn’t issue a walk.

The ‘Riders had only six hits in the game. Third baseman Alex Buchholz, who was 1-for-4, doubled for the club’s lone extra-base knock.

Appearing in his second Double-A game, sidearming lefty Alex Claudio allowed a run––a solo home run––in two innings. He walked one and fanned one.

Randy Henry finished it with a perfect eighth inning, throwing seven of his 13 pitches for strikes.

The Pelicans led 5-1 entering the bottom of the eighth but fell after surrendering four runs in the frame.

Rehabbing Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper did some of the damage for the P-Nats, as he went 1-for-3 with a solo home run off Myrtle Beach starter Jerad Eickhoff.

Eickhoff turned in a strong outing, giving up two runs on six hits over six innings. He struck out three and walked one.

First baseman Joe Maloney provided the bulk the Pelicans’ offense by going 1-for-4 with a triple and three RBI. Drew Robinson (1/3, 2B) and Pat Cantwell (1/4, 2B) both doubled once.

Centerfielder Chris Grayson went 2-for-3 with a walk and his 14th stolen base.

The Crawdads took Wednesday’s game despite collecting only four total hits.

Leadoff man and left fielder Nick Williams was 1-for-4 with his eighth double, which drove home all three of the club’s runs. Nick Vickerson (1/2), Nomar Mazara (1/3, BB), and Jordan Akins (1/4) singled for the other hits.

Starter Connor Sadzeck limited Lexington to one run on four hits over five innings, walking two and fanning three. Sinkerballing reliever Ryan Bores followed by giving up just an unearned run in three frames.

Dominican righty Jose Leclerc earned his first save by punching out two in a 1-2-3 ninth inning.

A throwing error from Vancouver shortstop Dickie Thon helped the Indians walk off with another victory on Wednesday.

Long before the game ended in the 10th inning, left-hander Yohander Mendez dealt a strong outing. The 18-year-old prospect worked five innings of one-run ball, yielding five hits. He struck out three.

Sam Wolff (2 IP) and Ryne Slack (1 IP) both kept the Canadians off the scoreboard. Josh McElwee fanned three in two frames, giving up one run.

At the plate, catcher Kevin Torres doubled twice in four at-bats. Chris Garia (1/3, BB), Alberto Triunfel (1/4, BB), Janluis Castro (1/3, BB), and Barrett Serrato (2/4) all reached base multiple times.

Garia stole his fifth base of the young season, while Triunfel grabbed his second.

The Rookie Rangers pounded out 12 hits while taking advantage of five Mariners errors and eight walks on Wednesday.

On the mound, rehabbing right-hander Joakim Soria began the game with a 1-2-3 first inning, striking out one.

Although the Rangers had 12 hits, only one went for extra bases. It was a double off the bat of second baseman Luis Mendez, who went 2-for-3 with three walks.

Travis Demeritte (2/5, BB), Jose Cardona (2/5, BB), Charles Moorman (2/6), and Smerling Lantigua (2/4) all singled twice.

Left-hander Derek Thompson, who entered after Soria, hurled two scoreless innings. He struck out a pair.

After David Gates permitted two runs in the fifth inning, Dominican righty Anyelo Leclerc followed with four innings of two-hit shutout ball, striking out seven.

The Dominican Rangers got a strong start from righty Pedro Payano on Wednesday. Payano surrendered just one unearned run over five innings, yielding five hits, walking one, and striking out four.

Left fielder Carlos Arroyo (1/3, 3B, BB) and shortstop Luis Terrero (1/4, 3B) both tripled once. Third baseman Juremi Profar, who was 1-for-4, added his fifth double.

Kevin Mendoza (1/1, BB) and Brallan Perez (1/3, BB) singled for the team’s only other knocks. Perez’s batting average now sits at .426 on the season.
