Tucson Padres 6 – Albuquerque Isotopes 2
Key Statistics RHP Sean O’Sullivan 6 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 5 K (W, 2-2); 2B Dean Anna 1-4, 2B, 2 RBI; LF James Darnell 0-4
Prospect Watch: With the T-Pads trailing 2-1 in the fifth, Dean Anna came up and smacked a two-run double to take the lead. That hit would be the game winner as the Padres won their fourth in a row… Sean O’Sullivan was solid but unspectacular. O’Sullivan did not get a one, two, three inning all night, but stayed out of trouble by holding the Isotopes to just 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position.

Corpus Christi Hooks 5 – San Antonio Missions 10
Key Statistics LHP Jose De Paula 6 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 1 BB, 5 K (W, 2-3); CF Reymond Fuentes 2-5, 2 RS, 2B, BB, SB (14); RF Rico Noel 3-5, 2 RS, BB, 3 SB (22); 3B Jake Blackwood 3-5, 2B, 2 RS, 4 RBI.
Prospect Watch: The day after I call out Fuentes, Blackwood, and Williams for their struggles over the past week, each player collected a multi-hit, multi-run game. Thanks to the game, each player raised their overall batting average to over .300… Rico Noel has reached base safely 37 times this season, and he has 22 stolen bases. He now has an eight stolen base lead over second place Fuentes… LHP Jose De Paula allowed four runs in the first and was nearly unhittable after. De Paula retired 13 of the final 15 hitters he faced.

Lancaster Jethawks 5 – Lake Elsinore Storm 8
Key Statistics RHP James Needy 5 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 5 BB, 1 K; 2B Cory Spangenberg 2-5, 2 2B,2 RS, RBI; Yeison Asencio 2-5, 3 RBI.
Prospect Watch: 2B Cory Spangenberg continued his recent hot streak, collecting his fifth multi-hit game in the last week. In May, Spangenberg is hitting a blistering .400/.429/.800, and has raised his overall batting average to over .300 for the first time since mid April. … Yeison Asencio hopefully broke out of his 2-20 slump with his own multi-hit game. While the multi-hit game is great, the power we saw early on from Asencio has disappeared. He has not collected an extra base hit in his last six games (25 at-bats)… Needy struggled all night with location, walking a season high five batters. What helped him is the eleven ground ball outs Needy induced over five innings… It looks like Johnny Barbato is officially the closer. The righthander collected his third save of the year.
