The Flying Tigers scored two in the bottom of the eighth and held on to win the FSL Championship series in the decisive Game 5. The first run was scored by Hernan Perez on a double steal and throwing error. The second was scored on a single by Tyler Collins. Warwick Saupold pitched seven scoreless innings in the start, giving up three hits. Melvin Mercedes pitched two innings of relief, allowing one hit and picking up the win. Collins went 1-for-4, while Perez went 1-for-3 and Curt Casali went 1-for-3 for all of Lakeland’s offense. It is Lakeland’s fourth FSL Championship, with the others coming in 1976, 1977 and 1992.
