Cubs' 2013 slate is set

The Cubs' schedule for the 2013 season has been set. It includes an interleague matchup in April and four games against the Crosstown rival Chicago White Sox.

The Chicago Cubs' slate for the 2013 season is set, with some interesting wrinkles along the way.

Opening Day is set for Monday, April 1, with the Cubs battling the Pittsburgh Pirates. Following a three-game weekend set with the Atlanta Braves, the Cubs open Wrigley Field against the Milwaukee Brewers.

With a new interleague play format set for the 2013 season, the Cubs' first series with an American League foe comes earlier than ever; a three-game series with the Texas Rangers is set to begin on April 16.

The Cubs first battle the St. Louis Cardinals on May 7, the first of a two-game set at Wrigley Field.

The Cubs and crosstown rival White Sox will battle just four times in 2013; two games at U.S. Cellular Field on May 27 and 28, then a trip north for two at Wrigley Field on May 29 and 30.

The Major League Baseball All-Star Game is set for July 16 at Citi Field, home of the New York Mets. 14 of the Cubs' last 20 games are on the road, with the season concluding on September 29 in St. Louis.
