Baez moves up to Daytona

Javier Baez has been promoted to the Cubs' High-A farm affiliate, Daytona, after an impressive run with the Peoria Chiefs.

Javier Baez's reign of terror in the Midwest League has concluded.

The Chicago Cubs have promoted Baez, the organization's Minor League Player of the Month for July, to the High-A level Daytona Cubs.

Baez batted .333 (71-for-213) in 57 games with the Chiefs. He finished with 12 home runs -- including one on Friday night -- plus 33 RBI, 10 doubles, five triples, and 41 runs scored.

Baez was drafted ninth overall in the 2011 draft from Arlington (Fla.) County Day High School. In conjunction with the move, infielder Tim Saunders moves down from Daytona to join Peoria.
