The Chicago Cubs have made a trade; just not the one fans have been awaiting.
Justin Germano, a 29-year-old right-handed pitcher, has been dealt to the Cubs from the Boston Red Sox in exchange for cash considerations.
German recorded a 9-4 record with a 2.40 ERA, plus a 72-to-13 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 16 starts with the Triple-A Pawtucket Pawsox.
In conjunction with the move, Jairo Asencio has been designated for assignment.
The Cubs have been shopping right-handed starters Ryan Dempster and Matt Garza, with Boston rumored to be an interested party.
