Ryan Dempster has been rumored to be on the move. On Monday, the Cubs placed the veteran starter on the 15-day disabled, due to right lat tightness.
Dempster, 35, is making his second appearance on the disabled list this season. He owns a 3-3 record with a 2.11 ERA.
The Cubs also activated Geovany Soto from the disabled list, and sent Welington Castillo to the Triple-A Iowa Cubs, while shifting Randy Wells to the rotation.
Chicago Cubs opens a three-game series with the crosstown rival Chicago White Sox, beginning on Monday night.
